ALIA New Librarians' Symposium 9 (NLS9), 5-7 July 2019 Adelaide: collaborate deviate innovate

Recording (MP4 audiovisual) of "The great library debate: Are libraries better when they expand and diversify their programs?"

Libraries have risen to the challenge of unprecedented change over the last 30 years and we continue to subsist despite the perplexity of non-library users. As libraries continue to evolve and reinvent themselves, we still find ourselves struggling against a misapprehension of what we do and the programs we offer, despite the fact that millions of Australians use their local library. Libraries are moving forward in our modern society and are doing our best to serve our communities comprehensively. By doing so, have we bitten off more than we can chew? Or is it our responsibility to be whatever our communities need in the moment?
